In the 10th century, the Viking Rollon was banished from Norway. He travelled to France where he became the founder of Normandy.

For Rollon, the music had to represent first the Viking and warrior side of Rollon, but also the Christian side of Bishop Francon who arranged Rollon's fate. The two elements coexist with a musical color based on orchestral sounds but also on the cymbalum, harp, flute and choirs.
